The Olympic torch relay extended its journey in Hefei, capital city of Anhui Province, with Olympic diving champion Li Na running the first legon Wednesday.
The relay started in Anhui Exhibition Center, passing Prosperity Avenue, Jade Road, Politics Square, Hidden Hill road, Friends Road before reaching the destination Hefei Sports Complex.
The highlight landmarks en route includes Anhui Garden, College City, Politics Building, Swan Lake along the 10.8-km relay.
i Na, 24, the Olympic diving champion, was the first torchbearer. She was handed the torch at 8:10 a.m. local time from Sun Jinlong, the provincial party secretary.
"No earthquake happened when I was informed to be a torchbearer, so it's all the happiness for me at that moment. When the quake came, the torch relay was endowed with new contents, passing the cares, fraternity and concerns between each other," said Li, who won a gold and silver medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Li is going to be a diving TV commentator during the Beijing Olympic Games.
After carrying the torch 50 meters, Li passed the Olympic torch to Li Shijun, a paramilitary policeman, who came back from the Sichuan earthquake relief squad and will be back to Sichuan for reconstruction soon.
"I just can't adjust myself to the life here. Everything in my mind is to be back to the quake region as soon as possible. They (Li's comrades in arms) always told me this (torch relay) is also passing a spirit and cares, and I thought it over and agreed to carry the torch," said 30-year-old Zhu.
The oldest torchbearer the day was 90-year-old Zhang Taisheng, who had been an army official in 1951-1954 Korean War.
"I hope the Olympic flame can light up the confidence of rebuilding homeland in disaster area. I hope the whole nation gives a hand to the quake region and I hope people there can live back to normal life in near future," said Zhang.
The Wushu world champion Fan Xueping, 34, was honored to light the cauldron at 10:20 in the morning and the Olympic flame left for Huainan at 12:30 on noon for next relay.
Hefei is a prefecture-level city and the provincial capital of Anhui province, China. Located in central Anhui, it borders Huainan to the north, Chuzhou to the northeast, Chaohu to the southeast and Lu'an to the west.

Welcome Back Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho was announced as the new manager of Inter Milan and I for one would like to welcome the special one back to the realms of football. Jose is quite a character and has been truly missed by those who love the sport of football.
Mourinho breathed new life into the world of English football when he took over as the manager of Chelsea and I am sure that he will have a similar positive affect on the Italian football league.
The majority of the supporters of Chelsea would love Mourinho to be back in charge of their league in the future and now has legend status at Stamford Bridge.
So what can Jose Mourinho bring to Inter Milan? Passion, pride, success and winning football is the answer. Mourinho has already been victorious in the ever popular Champions league and this will no doubt be his goal for the coming season. Who would beat against a Chelsea versus Inter Milan final next season? Football seems to make these types of events happen.
The Inter Milan supporters sure have a lot to look forward to. Their will be frills and spills as well as a huge amount of entertainment. Just listening to what Jose has to say pre and post match is fascinating in itself.
Going back to Chelsea I have heard rumours that Zola could well be on his way back in some capacity. This is just a rumour at the moment but this itself would really please the Chelsea supporters as well as the rest of the English football public.
Good luck Jose Mourinho; I look forward to hearing and watching your antics next year. Perhaps one day you might even manage my favourite team, Birmingham City รข€" some how I doubt it however.

No Champions League Screen for Manchester Following Uefa Violence

Manchester Council has dramatically abandoned plans to use big screens to screen next week's Manchester United Vs Chelsea Champions League final after Glasgow Rangers fans caused chaos in the city. An estimated 20,000 Glasgow Rangers fans were in the city to see their team play Zenit St Petersberg in the match at the City of Manchester Stadium, but the occasion soured when people ran riot in the city centre, attacking both police officers and civilians.
Richard Leese, leader of the city council leader, told reporters that Manchester would not be screening the vital game next Wednesday as "an appropriate response to what happened last night." He said that "any business or resident of the city centre" would agree with the council’s decision not to show the game.
Trouble started in the city when a big screen that was supposed to be showing the game to an estimated 20,000 fans in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens failed just fifteen minutes before kick off. All attempts to fix the screen failed, so the council laid on free transport for 11,000 fans to watch the game on a screen in the Velodrome. However, some fans refused to go to the alternative venue and violence erupted.
Violence was also present at the Stadium and one St Petersburg fan was stabbed in his seat before kick-off. There was more violence outside the City of Manchester Stadium after Rangers lost 2-0 in the match. In total, there were 52 assaults recorded in the city and fifteen police officers and a police dog were treated for their injuries. 42 football supporters – all thought to be Glasgow Rangers fans - were arrested after the violence.
Glasgow Rangers released a statement yesterday, which condemned the behaviour of their badly behaved fans. Martin Bain, the club's chief executive, said: "The club has had discussions with Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council in view of incidents in the city last night. The police and council praised the behaviour of the overwhelming majority of Rangers fans." However, he added "We are deeply disappointed that a small minority soured what was great carnival atmosphere and this is a view shared by our fans who travelled in unprecedented numbers to Manchester."
Uefa, the governing body of European football, is now investigating the violence. However, it is not yet known whether Glasgow Rangers can be punished for the bad behaviour of its supporters.
William Gaillard of Uefa said that Greater Manchester Police and the city as a whole had done a "fantastic" job in looking after the fans. He said: "I can’t believe that any other city would have done anything better. Of course we are very disappointed with the behaviour of a small minority especially after the city had done everything it could to accommodate everyone’s needs and were rewarded by injured policemen and hundreds of tons of rubbish."
