FIFA Soccer
by saurabhgubta
In some countries throughout the world FIFA football is named as FIFA Soccer. It is in some countries as like as football video games. These games are released in the electronic arts and named as EA game. It begins in the late 1993. There are now English Premier League and Football League, Italian Series A, Spanish Primera Liga, the Australian A-League and US Major League Soccer. The main series of FIFA Soccer is the tournament of FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship and UEFA Champions League. FIFA international Soccer was released in 1993 for most popular platforms of the time. But FIFA 95 had not ability to play with club teams. FIFA 96 pushed the boundaries and obtained the FIFPro license, the PC 32X and Sega Satum versions. FIFA 98 improved the graphics. But this FIFA games has met some criticisms.
FIFA has a tagline of FIFA International Soccer has it all………. Experience sheer brilliance. It covers David Platt shielding the ball in England vs. Poland, Pat Bonner punching the ball away from the header by Ruud Gullit in Republic Ireland vs. Netherlands. It is released for the Sega Mega drive, master system, mega CD, game gear, game boy etc. FIFA Soccer 95 was played within the eight national leagues like Brazil, Italy, Spain, England, France, and Netherland, USA. FIFA Soccer 96 is the next generation soccer. It was able to feature real time 3D graphics and it used technology called virtual stadium. FIFA 98 boasted refined graphics engine team and player customization options, 16 stadiums were used. There is some other FIFA Soccer held like FIFA 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. All used different graphical and 3D technology in this virtual game. FIFA 2009 is the upcoming latest series of FIFA Soccer. It is developed by the EA Canada. It is published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA sports label. The declared released date for this game is 3 October 2008 for Europe, 14 October 2008 for North America and 2October 2008 for Australia. FIFA 09 is covered in different versions. But they are unveiled. Some of the covered features are like, Ronaldinho with different players for each region: NA version feature Guillermo Ochoa and Maurice Edu, German cover features Kevin Kuranyi, Italian cover feature Daniele De RossiFrench cover features Frank Ribery, and Karim Benzema, UK cover features Wayne Rooney and Portuguese cover will feature Recardo Quaresma. In this upcoming game there are a lot of improvements like quicker release of the ball, greater urgency in the off-the-ball running, a new jostle system that takes into account the strength of the players when going shoulder to shoulder and subtle animations that enable players to take first-time shots. There is also improvement from FIFA 08 and it is the weather and time condition. There was rain which can be switched off before and after game. It hampered the game. This game now can be played during the daytime, night and dust as European games are played at night and stadiums for finals are accurate to play at night.

The History of the Most Elite of All International Sports: The Olympics
by Lyden
Although the Olympics are much anticipated by people around the world, it may come as a bit of surprise to learn that no one really knows where the idea for the Olympic events developed. While historians do know that the Olympic games were an important aspect of ancient Greek culture, they are not sure why they decided to create the Olympic games in the first place.
The Legend of the Origin of the Olympic Games
Although there are many legends regarding the origin of the Olympic games, the most popular is that Zeus created the games along with his son Heracles. The legend states that the father and son first held the event in order to pay honor to the defeat of Cronus and Zeus's subsequent reign over the heavens. Heracles is credited with having named the event the "Olympics" and for deciding to hold the event once every four years.
The Olympics in Ancient Greece
Regardless of where the Olympic games originated, the event was an important part of the ancient Greece culture. In fact, they were central to many religious celebrations and events. Ultimately, the Olympics were comprised of twenty different events that were completed over a period of several days. Those who won the events were admired greatly and were immortalized in many ways, including the creation of statues and poems in their honor.
As the Romans gained power, the Olympic games became of lesser importance. By AD 393, they were banned completely when Emperor Theodosius I named Christianity as the Empire's religion and deemed the Olympic Games to be a pagan festival.
The Resurgence of the Olympic Games
After being banned by Emperor Theodosius I, the Olympic Games as they are known today did not exist for 1500 years. Interest in reviving the event really didn't occur until a wealthy Greek philanthropist by the name of Evangelos Zappas decided to sponsor his version of the Olympic Games. In 1859, an international Olympic Games was successfully held in Athens. Zappas later paid to refurbish the ancient Panathenian Stadium and another event was held in 1870 and then again in 1875.
Although these first events only included athletes from Greece and the Ottoman Empire, the event slowly spread throughout the world and developed into the Olympic Games we know today - with more than 205 nations participating in this major international event.

London is top choice for top football
by Paul McIndoe
The English professional football season is in full flow between August and April and many visitors to London during that period take the opportunity to see one of the capital's top teams in action at some point during their stay.
London is particularly well represented in the Premier League, with a quarter of the division's 20 teams based in the capital. Arsenal and Tottenham, both based in the north of London have fans that contest a fierce local rivalry but a more friendly competition exists between Fulham and Chelsea; both based in trendy West London. West Ham are the east of London's sole contenders in the top flight and their big local rivals Millwall currently play in League One of the Football League.
On rare weekends during the season when there is no Premier League football played in the capital there is an alternative in The Football League Championship offers a choice of three teams. The next tier down in the football pyramid, The Championship boasts Charlton Athletic, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace, all of whom are vying to win a place in the Premier League. So, with a total of eight teams from which to choose in the top two leagues it is very rare that there is not a top quality professional game being played in London on any given weekend during the football season.
The ease of buying a ticket to watch a particular game varies depending upon the teams and their opposition on the day. For example, getting a ticket to Chelsea versus Manchester United would be extremely difficult as they are both contenders for the League title. Whereas a ticket for the game between Chelsea and Hull City would be much easier to obtain from the box office as the latter are newly promoted and not yet considered a big draw. Hotels in London are often host to football fans on any given match day so getting a room close to the ground should not be a problem and will allow you to build your own capital football break.
However, one thing to bear in mind before you book any accommodation is that most top teams operate ticket membership schemes that any potential purchaser is required to join before being allowed to buy tickets. Although rare, there is sometimes also a qualifying period before you can purchase tickets so if you intend on taking in a game on a visit to the capital make sure you plan well in advance. As football in the UK is extremely partisan tickets in the away sections of the crowd are only available from the box office of the visiting team.
If you intend on lending your support to the away team at a particular game you would be well advised to not buy a ticket from the home team. Such supporters finding themselves in the heart of opposing fans may well be ejected from the ground without refund in the interests of their own safety. However, there is rarely trouble at football games in England as fan safety is a primary consideration, so precautions such as separating opposing fans ensures that it stays trouble free.

As far as sports are concerned, merchandise definitely plays a significant role in portraying the person as a fan. Many people buy products supporting the player or team of their choice. In football, players are distinguished by the shirts what they wear. The trademark of a team is in its team logo that is printed on the jersey of every player along with their names and numbers that help in distinguishing them from each other. Football fanatics usually buy football shirts of their favorite team so that they can show their support to everyone.

Michael Phelps 2008 Olympics - Move Over Mark Spitz You Are Toast!
by Robert Deangelo
Michael Phelps has done it!
He has smashed Mark Spitz's record of 7 gold medals in the Olympia. In a very heated event he barely beat Milorad Cavic by a fingernail. Just a mere .01 of second in the 100m butterfly on Saturday at the Beijing Olympics Water Cube.
Cavic's team coach filed a protest after the race, according to NBC reporter Andrea Kremer, but FINA, swimming's world governing body, refused to accept it.
Phelps, was trailing the race; he was second to last (7th out of 8 swimmers) at the first wall but made up for with a fast as lighting turn at the wall. His size 14 feet acting as flippers. Even with his fast turn he was still behind Cavic.
Then in the final meters he shot out and got to the wall first in 50.58 to Cavic's 50.59. Just .01 seconds faster but enough to win his 7th gold medal.
Mark Spitz, as you know held the record after having won 7 golds at the Munich Games.
Phelps final event is the tell all. He will try to beat that record in the 4x100m medley relay Sunday in the final day of swimming in Beijing.
Cavis, who is a California-trained swimmer and who competes for Serbia, beat Phelps in the swim heats as the second-fastest man to swim the event. He almost ruined Phelps chance at making Olympic and swimming history.
Phelps was quoted as saying "Cavic's words before the race fueled me."
Phelps continued on saying "Cavic said it would be good for me and good for swimming if he won" Further he Phelps said "I'm at a loss for words. I had no idea the race was that close. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the wall first."
Michael Phelps has set world records in every event except one. Crocker's record, 50.40 set in 2005, is the only world record Phelps has not smashed in Beijing.
Phelps stated later that tying Mark Spitz's record has been a long term goal of his. Well it seems that this young man has seen this goal/dream come true today.
"In my dreams I always wanted it," he stated. "I thought in the perfect circumstances I could do it."
Spitz marveled at the way Phelps has dealt with all the media attention and pre-Beijing hype since Phelps won six golds in Athens.
"I've always marveled at the fact that in the last four years, he has had to live with a lot more expectations and anxiety that I had to deal with," Spitz stated.
It is safe to say that whatever happens Michael Phelps has earned his place in Olympic history!

New English Premiership Season
by William Clark
Well with the new premiership season on the horizon who is going to come out on top. After the amazing climax to last season with the champions and relegation issues resolved on the final day, can we be so lucky as have the same again.
Mr Scolari will be settling into his new post at the Bridge while the longest serving manager will be the obstacle he will have to overcome. What about the rest? Arsenal, too much in house fighting? Or can the players detach themselves from that? Cup team Liverpool, can they really put up a challenge this year? Who knows?
Outside that top four you have the nearly men, WHO, would love to win the championship, but in reality would settle for a top four place and a spot in the champions league. Everton, Villa, Spurs and perhaps Portsmouth seem to be the main contenders, but can one of them really knock down that door and get in?
After that the teams who will finish up mid table, their only highlight being when the manage to take a few points off the big four and another false dawn appears until the following week when a team from the relegation zone brings them back to earth.
And finally too the relegation zone. The three teams promoted from last year will be favourites to go straight back down. West Brom are probably best equipped to prove me wrong having been over the course before. If they did avoid the drop that leaves a spot for one of last years survivors, Bolton, Sunderland, Wigan and Fulham are waiting in the wings to fill the vacant spot. Fulham are in the best position to be well away from the relegation area if they can continue from where they left off at the end of last season.

Olympic Torch takes Relay in Hefei
by sunny
The Olympic torch relay extended its journey in Hefei, capital city of Anhui Province, with Olympic diving champion Li Na running the first legon Wednesday.
The relay started in Anhui Exhibition Center, passing Prosperity Avenue, Jade Road, Politics Square, Hidden Hill road, Friends Road before reaching the destination Hefei Sports Complex.
The highlight landmarks en route includes Anhui Garden, College City, Politics Building, Swan Lake along the 10.8-km relay.
i Na, 24, the Olympic diving champion, was the first torchbearer. She was handed the torch at 8:10 a.m. local time from Sun Jinlong, the provincial party secretary.
"No earthquake happened when I was informed to be a torchbearer, so it's all the happiness for me at that moment. When the quake came, the torch relay was endowed with new contents, passing the cares, fraternity and concerns between each other," said Li, who won a gold and silver medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Li is going to be a diving TV commentator during the Beijing Olympic Games.
After carrying the torch 50 meters, Li passed the Olympic torch to Li Shijun, a paramilitary policeman, who came back from the Sichuan earthquake relief squad and will be back to Sichuan for reconstruction soon.
"I just can't adjust myself to the life here. Everything in my mind is to be back to the quake region as soon as possible. They (Li's comrades in arms) always told me this (torch relay) is also passing a spirit and cares, and I thought it over and agreed to carry the torch," said 30-year-old Zhu.
The oldest torchbearer the day was 90-year-old Zhang Taisheng, who had been an army official in 1951-1954 Korean War.
"I hope the Olympic flame can light up the confidence of rebuilding homeland in disaster area. I hope the whole nation gives a hand to the quake region and I hope people there can live back to normal life in near future," said Zhang.
The Wushu world champion Fan Xueping, 34, was honored to light the cauldron at 10:20 in the morning and the Olympic flame left for Huainan at 12:30 on noon for next relay.

Welcome Back Jose Mourinho
by Steve Hill
Jose Mourinho was announced as the new manager of Inter Milan and I for one would like to welcome the special one back to the realms of football. Jose is quite a character and has been truly missed by those who love the sport of football.
Mourinho breathed new life into the world of English football when he took over as the manager of Chelsea and I am sure that he will have a similar positive affect on the Italian football league.
The majority of the supporters of Chelsea would love Mourinho to be back in charge of their league in the future and now has legend status at Stamford Bridge.
So what can Jose Mourinho bring to Inter Milan? Passion, pride, success and winning football is the answer. Mourinho has already been victorious in the ever popular Champions league and this will no doubt be his goal for the coming season. Who would beat against a Chelsea versus Inter Milan final next season? Football seems to make these types of events happen.
The Inter Milan supporters sure have a lot to look forward to. Their will be frills and spills as well as a huge amount of entertainment. Just listening to what Jose has to say pre and post match is fascinating in itself.
Going back to Chelsea I have heard rumours that Zola could well be on his way back in some capacity. This is just a rumour at the moment but this itself would really please the Chelsea supporters as well as the rest of the English football public.
Good luck Jose Mourinho; I look forward to hearing and watching your antics next year. Perhaps one day you might even manage my favourite team, Birmingham City â€" some how I doubt it however.

No Champions League Screen for Manchester Following Uefa Violence
by Krissy Haze
Manchester Council has dramatically abandoned plans to use big screens to screen next week's Manchester United Vs Chelsea Champions League final after Glasgow Rangers fans caused chaos in the city. An estimated 20,000 Glasgow Rangers fans were in the city to see their team play Zenit St Petersberg in the match at the City of Manchester Stadium, but the occasion soured when people ran riot in the city centre, attacking both police officers and civilians.
Richard Leese, leader of the city council leader, told reporters that Manchester would not be screening the vital game next Wednesday as "an appropriate response to what happened last night." He said that "any business or resident of the city centre" would agree with the council’s decision not to show the game.
Trouble started in the city when a big screen that was supposed to be showing the game to an estimated 20,000 fans in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens failed just fifteen minutes before kick off. All attempts to fix the screen failed, so the council laid on free transport for 11,000 fans to watch the game on a screen in the Velodrome. However, some fans refused to go to the alternative venue and violence erupted.
Violence was also present at the Stadium and one St Petersburg fan was stabbed in his seat before kick-off. There was more violence outside the City of Manchester Stadium after Rangers lost 2-0 in the match. In total, there were 52 assaults recorded in the city and fifteen police officers and a police dog were treated for their injuries. 42 football supporters – all thought to be Glasgow Rangers fans - were arrested after the violence.
Glasgow Rangers released a statement yesterday, which condemned the behaviour of their badly behaved fans. Martin Bain, the club's chief executive, said: "The club has had discussions with Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council in view of incidents in the city last night. The police and council praised the behaviour of the overwhelming majority of Rangers fans." However, he added "We are deeply disappointed that a small minority soured what was great carnival atmosphere and this is a view shared by our fans who travelled in unprecedented numbers to Manchester."
Uefa, the governing body of European football, is now investigating the violence. However, it is not yet known whether Glasgow Rangers can be punished for the bad behaviour of its supporters.
William Gaillard of Uefa said that Greater Manchester Police and the city as a whole had done a "fantastic" job in looking after the fans. He said: "I can’t believe that any other city would have done anything better. Of course we are very disappointed with the behaviour of a small minority especially after the city had done everything it could to accommodate everyone’s needs and were rewarded by injured policemen and hundreds of tons of rubbish."

Ronaldo-Will It Be Red Or White
by Obinna Cristan
Real Madrid have renewed thier long-standing interest in Cristiano Ronaldo in the light of his announcement that he has ambitions to play in Spain. This interest in the Portuguese winger was further reinforced by the club's president,Roman Calderon, who spoke publicly about his admiration of Ronaldo."Who would not want a player as Ronaldo in thier team" Calderon replied when asked if Ronaldo might join Madrid. He is one of the best players in the world.Franco Baldini,right-hand man to Madrid's sporting director,Predrag Mijatovic, and the man who negotiates all of the club's signings, recently met Jorge Mendes in London.Madrid sources has it that the meeting was to comfirm Cristiano Ronaldo as thier NO1 priority come next season. It is believed that Real is ready to offer 54 million pounds to secure Ronaldo.Real Madrid has even gone as far as meeting with Ronaldo's agent and agreeing a course of action that directors at the Santiago Bernabeu believe will end with the Portugal winger becoming thier latest galactico. Now, with Madrid ready to meet Manchester United's asking price for the winger-expected to be somewhere in the region of 80 million euros(54million pounds). It might just come down to Cristiano Ronaldo to decide where his future lies.Real is also ready to beat any contract offer made by Manchester United, matching Ronaldo's salary to that of the galacticos.6 million pounds(4million pounds) a year, after tax.Manchester United is also bent on keeping thier most priced player. They have already put down a contract offer of about 140,000 pounds a week. But it is still believed that Ronaldo might reject the contract offer in order to play for Madrid.Alex Ferguson will be comfortable with the knowledge that Ronaldo is happy in Manchester, even if the player does not speak openly about been attracted to the Spainish league.Nevertheless Calderon's remarks on wanting to sign Ronaldo will not go down well at Old Trafford, where Ferguson has been increasingly irritated by Madrid's habit of talking about thier transfer targets in the media.Cristiano Ronaldo has been voted footballer of the year-only the second player to win the award in successive seasons since its introduction 60years ago.Ronaldo, who has had a fantastic season, netted an outstanding 41 goals during the season,31 of which came in the premier league alone. So dear football-soccer fans, the question now is-Do you think Cristino Ronaldo looks better in a red or white jersey. Please make your views and comments known.

The Florida Keys are an archipelago of about 1700 islands in the southeast United States. They begin at the south-eastern tip of the Florida peninsula, about 15 miles south of Miami, and extend in a gentle arc south-southwest and then westward to Key West, the westernmost of the inhabited islands,If the tropical outdoors are your thing, you can explore walking trails and environmental centres.
Numerous dive-snorkel charter captains are ready to show you North America's only living, coral barrier reef. And anglers have a full-range of world-famous fishing opportunities.
Key Largo is closest to the mainland, the home to the world's largest artificial reef, the 510 foot USS Spiegel Grove; the John Pennekamp Coral Reef Underwater State Park and the famous Christ of the Abyss underwater statue.
Islamorada, the village of islands, is known as the "Sport fishing Capital of the World" with one of the largest fishing fleets per square mile in the world.
Marathon is in the heart of this chain of islands and offers not only easy access to all the other Keys, but it's own diverse activities, sites, and beaches.
The extensive group of islands known as the Lower Keys, includes Big Pine Key, Cudjoe Key, Sugarloaf Key and many more. Just above Key West, this group of islands are known for their natural setting and abundant wildlife.

If you can drag your self away from all this exotic beauty, the keys sport some of the finest Golf Courses in Florida.

Soccer goal options include pop up, folding, regulation, indoor, rebounders, and portable models.
Improving your soccer players skills, or helping yourself to improve your soccer game is very rewarding. If you help your players, you get the feeling of satisfaction and you see it happen under your teaching. Improving your own game will give you that excellent feeling of conquering a new skill.
Practice is a great way to do that. And by using regulation goals, or portable soccer goals, you can improve your accuracy and talents. Here are some of the different types:
Portable

.Smaller size helps improve accuracy.
.Affordable.
.Comes complete with soccer nets.
.Creates lots of fun.
.Use indoor or outdoors.
Adjustable Goals
.Last a long time.
.Great for many ages and skill levels.
.Can be adjusted to suit the size of the field.
.Great for learning how to score.
.Excellent learning tool for soccer goalkeepers.
.Use indoor or outdoors.
Soccer Rebounders
.Easy to transport.
.Simple set up.
.Train alone or with friends.
.Work on giving and receiving.
.Use indoor or outdoors.
Regulation Size
.In-ground or movable.
.Different sizes available.
.With or without nets.
.Square or round posts.
Having good tools for your soccer training will help you to improve your game. Just make sure you use the tools, otherwise they are just ornaments.
Although Vince Lombardi is from as different type of football, you should remember what he said. Practice doesn̢۪t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.

Being the youngest golfer to win the world Junior Amateur Championships, Woods received the honor of being the Amateur Golf World Player in 1992. He had started playing professionally in 1996. His achievement lies in the fact that at present he is a golfer who has won sixty-one PGA tours as well as twenty-two additional professional victories.

The ultimate soccer event of 2008 is without doubt the European Football Championships also referred to as Euro 2008 which will take place this summer in both Austria and Switzerland from 7th to 29th June.
A total of 16 European teams will participate in the tournament. Austria and Switzerland qualified automatically as hosts but the remaining 14 teams have made it to the finals through qualifying matches which started way back in August 2006. Austria and Poland will be competing in the tournament for the first time.
Europe will be the envy of world soccer this year as a massive global television audience is expected to tune in to watch the best players in europe compete over three weeks and 31 matches to decide which country will be crowned the champions of Europe.
A record amount of soccer betting interest is also predicted on an event that is second only to the football world cup in terms of the amount of money that is wagered on it.
The European championships was first held in 1960 as the European Nations Cup and like the world cup the tournament is held every four years.
Previous winners include Germany (1972, 1980, 1996), France (1984, 2000), Soviet Union (1960), Spain (1964), Italy (1968), Czechoslovakia (1976), Netherlands (1988), Denmark (1992) and Greece (2004).
The teams are divided into four groups with four teams in each group. The group of death as it has been labelled is Group C as it is by far the strongest containing no less than three of the tournament favourites in Holland, Italy and France.
Apart from the aforementioned teams from the group of death Germany and Portugal are also expected to feature prominently.
Group A - Switzerland, Czech Republic, Portugal, Turkey
Group B - Austria, Croatia, Germany, Poland
Group C - Holland, Italy, Romania, France
Group D - Greece, Sweden, Spain, Russia
Millions of football fans all over the world will tune in on 29th June to watch the Euro 2008 final at Vienna's 53,000 capacity Ernst Happel Stadium to witness the best team in Europe presented with the brand new European Football Championships trophy.
